Hello everyone! I figured that since I am away so much from the computer playing baseball, I would write about it! This kills two birds with one stone: It gives me a more broad audience to tell about my games while keeping me on the forum and updated with all things "izzle" wo0o0o0! And of course, feel free to post as much as you would like on here! ;D

7/19/05
Ok, today was the game that I mentioned on the team izzle oh so gloryness thread. We played the Palm Springs Power, the best team that we have played all summer (before tonight, our record against them was 1-2) I got the start, as I mentioned before. Here is what I did"
Final Score: 3-2
6.0+ IP 0 Runs 0 EarnedRuns 3Hits 7Strikeouts 1walk !!!!!!!!
My family was there to see it too, so that was cool. One of my brothers has never seen me pitch in college (jerk) so he got to see me pitch for the first time today! That was cool. After the game I found out that there were 4 pro scouts there watching the game and they had radar guns. I topped out at 89mph tonight, which I was happy with cuz my arm was feeling really good. I started the 7th inning, but I hit the first batter I faced in the arm (oops) and then I was taken out. Otherwise it was a good game!
On another note, My team is headed to Wichita, KS for the National Baseball Congress World Series on August 1. The best 45ish teams from around the country come to play here, so that is gonna be SWEEET!
Ok, I should probably stop here before I go on a rampage with this post! I could talk baseball for days....
FYI: Since I am a Starting Pitcher, I will probably only have updates like once a week, which is how often I start a game. (I hope thats clear)

He once told me that a pitcher can throw as many as 200 pitches for one game, including warm ups and stuff.

IP is how many innings he pitched, walks is how many times he walked a batter, Ks are strikeouts.
and by the way, most pitchers throw about 100 game pitches

Its the opposite of a strikeout. Instead of throwing him three strikes, I throw him four balls. When he gets four balls, he automatically gets to go to first base. \
SIZZ, I was at 95 pitches. During my in-season college games I averaged close to 110-115 pitches per game. I told my coach that I wanted to go longer, but he said no, "you still have to pitch again later this week." That was his excuse. Like any sport, there are lots of politics involved... oh well.
Shorty, I am very surprised that you remember I told you that! Slight adjustment though. Its not quite 200 pitches, but a pitcher can throw the baseball about 200 times during the course of a game (warming up before the game, bullpen before the game, game pitches, warm-up pitches between innings, and any throw that he may have to make after fielding a baseball) Like today, I am really sore in my shoulder! I have to long toss today :/

SEE!!!! I do listen when you talk (unless I'm falling asleep on the phone, that is....)
Ok, so 200 throws, 100 pitches....
Hey Hizz, this question is by no means to insult your intelligence, but do you understand what a "ball" is, and how 4 of them allows the batter to "walk" to first base?

hmmm... im a total baseball zero! but i would guess that a ball is when the batter doesnt hit the ball, but its not a strike as well... and dont worry abt insulting me.. i find it equally tough to teach people about cricket.. so i know how it is

lmao! i can only imagine about cricket....
a ball is like a bad pitch by the pitcher, one that does not go over the plate, known as the "strike zone"
a strike is when the pitch went over the plate, but the batter either swings and misses or failed to swing at all.

"Fans, researchers, historians and even the players argue all the time about who was the fastest pitcher of all-time. The most widely quoted response is Nolan Ryan, whose fastball was "officially" clocked by the Guinness Book of World Records at 100.9 miles per hour in a game played on August 20, 1974 versus the Chicago White Sox. A record that's still included in the book." www.baseball-almanac.com/articles/fastest-pitcher-in-baseball.shtml

Out of high school, I sucked as a pitcher... BAD. I had never been taught how to pitch, but they threw me out there anyway. I topped out at MAYBE 85mph but was usually from 80-83ish... not the greatest, but I have worked hard since then and have gained a little bit of velocity
I was reading a college baseball newsletter titled "Baseball America" and it reported that a minor league pitcher had set a record by throwing a baseball 102mph! One may ask why he isnt in the majors. He cant exactly control it yet! (ouch, imagine how it would feel to get hit!) On average, guys now are throwing a lot harder than in the past. With all these new developments in technology that shows how a pitcher can get the most energy out of his body per pitch, its no wonder guys throw harder. One of the founders of such things is a guy named Tom House. He is probably the most well-known "pitching coach" ever. His most notable disciple: Mark Prior from the Cubs
