The shotgun on ANY Garbage server will be default, as will everything else. Thats goes for sniper rounds as well. 15 bullets of half damage rounds, that can be fired off very quickly just isn't too cool, however that seems to be the way people play it in version 1. It really messed me up hard when I was expecting someone to reload after 5 shots, only to get my face blown off because I charged into a sniper round. Other than that, if we do get a server I belive RPM mod ( I think thats what it's called) will be put on them. Then you can drop weapons, and spec in first person, which will help to catch cheaters. It also eleminates the "gun glow" problem that people have with Admin. Perhaps we can set up a little get together of AKers in gold. LMS has a gold server which is passworded, and usually empty. We can go there for some fun , that is if you all have gold installed.

I don't think anyone would use it otherwise. Even like this is, it is already fairly easy to turn shipers into swiss cheese with M4/AK, (so long as you can find/see them first, of course). It is the other M4/AK users that cause me the most trouble. If there was a "nothing but M4/AK" match, then I guess I'd not do so well. This is particularly the case when up against players that seem to shoot like there is no tomorrow. (Appears to be a common Gold player technique, I think...?) Those players that fire full-auto, very accurately, until you are dead. Very difficult to shoot back at without dropping into that kind of style yourself. My technique is somewhere between sniper and 'AK', where my biggest concern besides staying alive is to conserve ammo; keeping enough to get me to the other side of the map and back again.

I think it would be good to have a server where all weapons were modded down to be relatively weak. Like, maybe, a quarter of their normal strength. That way the emphasis is more focused on consistent accurate shooting, rather than simply probing for the one lucky hit...

evo.. ur the only ak/m4er who crouches and shoots.. thats how i know its u whos shooting at me.. lol.. That's true! lol. Feels better to shoot like that. I'm not sure if it helps any though. It's a habit I picked up from playing Strike Force; where a crouch gave you a more steady aim. (You also had to hold the right mouse button down to aim the gun.) I've played a little Counter Strike too...

If all the good players were killed off, then how would you learn how to play !? I had to get my butt kicked all day long before I got any where near good! Then again there are people that still pwn me that I learn from all the time.
Yes the gold style of playing is very agressive. We are used to playing Akers so the first shot can make or break you coming out alive.
Conserving ammo is good, however I take people out just as easy with my pistol. People tend to never use that weapon , however it is there for a reason. It does not hurt to learn how to use it and use it well. Not only that but by taking the grease gun you up the ammo something aweful! Of course the Greaser its self is a great weapon, dispite the long distance of the shottie on WL the other secondary weapons are not that bad, you just have to be fast.
I've found that there are very specific key moments at which to crouch and not crouch. Most people that do it while trying to AK me, get their heads taken off. Simple rule, if you move in a pradictable position, I'm going to hit you . Its like when people jump, it never fails to make me wonder why. I know where they will land! that's where I'm going to shoot. Even though the jump crouch bug is present in version 1, its not good enough to keep you from getting hit.
I understand that they like the sniper that way, but default settings just seem to take more skills. Then again I come from servers on gold that had mass extra ammunition, however the fire rate of sniper was a bit slower making it playable. A channle packed full of snipers with 15 shots, and a scope = instant ownage .
Our STS match will be interesting to say the least.

It's amazing how biased people are. Just because it's how they learned to play, they feel it's how things should be. That's why when all these gold players started showing up, I took up the AK alot more. I was intrigued. I will admit, I have always aspired to be the best at what I do, SOF included. I know I am good, but I want to be the best. When people like LMS-=A=- started appearing in Wasteland, I found myself much more competitive again. I have already mapped out their styles as well as adapted their strategies into my own, and I believe that doing things like that are the only key to improvement. You have to be open to other people's strategies. Be observant and thoughtful. That's how I've gotten where I am.

Who do you find biased Dan ? The best way to learn in this game is by paying attention to what others do, and using that to your advantage. I was not trying to "tell" evo how to play the game, as I understand that we all have a different "way" however if I see someone that great potential why should I not help them? From what I saw of you playing last night you aren't a bad player by far Dan. I didn't have a chance to really play you however because of the ever unevening teams, but you play hard, and thats a good thing. Just don't take what I say to be a "I'm a gold player I'm better than you" way of looking at things. When I do things that get me killed I would be overjoyed if people would point them out, however I tend to have to learn by trial and error. I was just trying to take some of the guess work out of it I suppose.
Any who, Perhaps you will be on tonight and we can gun it up some. It's always nice playing against a good aker.
Please lets not start a flame war between Gold vs. V1. I've already been the target of bashing from people on UNS, which is why I don't play there any more. Granted we come from different worlds, but we play the same game and thats all that matters. I didn't switch versions to show people how to play, I came here to enjoy myself, and make some new friends.

I think many new players start with sniper cos they can't hit a damn thing with any other weapon. They camp with sniper and realise that this is the way they can hit other players and end up with a positive ratio. In gold it was extremely hard to stand up against these elite AK or M4 players as a noob but if you didn't quit or changed to camping mode u could get pretty skilled after a few moths. I learned alot from playing with skilled players even if it meant getting butt-kicked time after time. I whine alot when i get owned but i never give up .
